To give a break to the recurrent visits to my family (and to use my ultra-active way to explore), I went to Chion-in temple and Shore-in temple after an early breakfast. Early birds do get catch the worm; early tourists, do get clean pics.
Choin-in temple (知恩院) is open from 8am to 4pm.
Sanmon gate that invites you from the entrance is massive and a pure display of its time period of existence. Broad, magnificent and full of character. Its indeed a super quick workout to warm up to go Miedo hall from the road. Amidado hall is another adjacent hall that’s equally massive and a pure example of old charm. They do look amazing with the light but its only during certain period of the year. Otherwise it gets closed by 4pm sharp. I didn’t go to Hojo garden or Seishido area as the default route quickly exited me via Kuromon tower. This temple does collect entrance fee of 500 Yen. There is more here, but due to renovation and diversions, I exited quickly.
