It was when Kannan came to Singapore and we wanted to give a good work to our beasts – 5DM3. I always fantasize about being there in Chinese Garden (SG), right after a heavy rain. Whole place looks at its best and makes me to forget am in a city state where buildings dominate. Incidentally, on a fine afternoon, clouds gave all sort of symptoms of a rain explosion. Another friend Kubhi joined(he came to SG just that week), and rode our way to the Chinese Garden. Not even half way, it rained a bit and nothing after that. I felt even better. We got down at the actual entrance which connects Chinese Garden and Japanese Garden which is generally avoided by people as the Chinese Garden MRT connects the place better.

It was just then I realized I carried my beast but left the batter on charger and gonna carry that for long time for no reason. Thank god at least one of them had it. While we started planning to shoot, sky opened up again and didnt drizzle, didnt pour but opened up a dam on us. One large umbrella on a mid of stormy rain didn’t do much favour but tried to save our cameras. We were right in the park and in the vicinity there were no places to hide. To make the things worse, lightening and the thunder scared me to the core. My understanding that we dont have much of lightening arresters in those open areas really made me to worry. Real life 10 times ATMOS sounds effects have been heard at the very close proximities. Just to save ourselves, we decided to make a move in that rain like a snail to a nearest shelter which was the booth of a carpark that just had enough place to shelter 3 persons outside. We made our way there and used umbrellas to save from heavy wind.

After like 30 mins, rain slowed down a bit on us and we called for another taxi to go to the main entrance if the rain shuts off. Luckily when we got the taxi, rain stopped totally. And no less to my expectations entire park was so beautiful. I wanted to give my first shot in HDR and gosh, they came out really good (to my own standards. :-p). So the rest have been shot in HDR+Raw modes.  Didn’t explore the whole park, but here are pics where we did. It was a wonderful experience. Without any doubt, its one hell of a time to go for a shoot right after a heavy rain.

But be safe!
