Post lunch, after letting the sun slide little to the side from the head, we took taxi to Kiyomizu dera temple. One of the most visited, poster celebrated temple of Kyoto. Our timing couldn’t be more perfect, full of sunshine which made the Temple to glow the most beautiful reds with lush greenish background. Though one of the main building is undergoing the restoration, its totally worth the visit.

Nio-mon (The Main Gate)

Nio-mon is rich, huge and gorgeous by all means. Once we go inside, the other towers (Sai mon – West gate) start of offer even better views. Temple is super quiet and well respected by tourists. One can sit for hours to indulge the silence in the temple.

Hondo (Main hall)

Hondo was undergoing the restoration but still allows us to the viewing deck. Viewing deck offers Gorgeous views of Mount Otowa, I must say. The Kiyomizu – eleven headed with 1000 arms kannon bodhi sattva is worshiped in the main hall. The entire hall is made with wood and designed to withstand any number of visitors.

Koyasu-no-To Pagoda

We walked up to Koyasu-no-To Pagoda, which offers even more beautiful view of the Kiyomizu-dera temple. It was nearly closing time, so it was super quiet. Like a clock work, they close the temple on time and we were lucky to be on the stairs when the closing happened which gave a clean view of the gates, pagodas and temples.

Ninen-zaka StreetThe Old world charm and love

After the visit at the time of closing the temple, its too perfect to not to follow the crowd and follow a small street that starts with stone stairs, to see the real authentic views of Kyoto. We walked again to the Marumaya Park via Ninen-zaka street which is full of beautiful houses and few temples. This street is very easy to miss, but if you are careful, one of the best memories it could give. We walked via Kodaiji temple, it was closed at the point of time, but anyways, we were just passing by to Marumaya park. This time, we took a left from Marumaya park.
