Except a nightmare reaching Senai airport and coming back, this was a first trip where I didnt had to worry about itinerraries. Plan was way too simple. To count my lovely little one’s First Birthday, I opted to splurge a little bit and stayed in Shangri La. One of the best hotel money can get few days there.
Its all about the Shangri La at Tanjung Aru . My thirst to conquer Kota Kinabalu mountain have to wait for another x number of years. This resort is situated at Tanjung Aru – a prime beach side of the Kota kinabalu. Sabah, the Malaysian state is beautiful and had lush green everywhere. I hear there are couple of nice diving spots as well. But I would go down southeast to semporna area. Expect an entry here soon.
This hotel is harldy 10 minutes from the airport. We were welcomed with nice ice tea. They politely offered a better room and took us to the room to consider. For that lovely sea view, I couldnt say no. There are two sections in this resort and the newer ones are bit far away from the crowd. However it has a lounge that offers breakfast and whole day snacks area. And in the afternoons, high tea with numerous snacks, drinks served.
At breakfast next day, I got bit overwhelmed with the crowd I saw there. Breakfast options are way too many but more towards local and chinese cuisine.
Am a person who prefers solitude more than anything – Later I realized I should have opted for the other resort Shangri la’s Rasa Ria resort which is slightly away from the town.
Resort has amazing options to serve the needs of a toddler to the aged. I would say its a self sustained city to keep everyone happy. Before I blinked, vacation got over. Here are some pics I got while staring at the never ending blue sea.
