It was long pending. Last year, my ‘written’ goals for a 6 pack didn’t get me anywhere near. Furious I was, decided to take on this year. Either its me as I like to be or the lazy goose!.

Am definitely going to save a lot of time to you if you are thinking anywhere on these lines.

My search got started.

Options? Cardio, Strength trainings. Am more of a runner only if a dog chases me. And I really wanted to ‘look’ good which means I should focus on Strength trainings.

Well – Gym/fitness centre membership then? Am one of those who get motivated to go 1 full month and skip the next and continue again. These memberships are not cheap either. Commutation, time, convenience, parking no less stuff to make it worse.

Then I considered a home gym (or multi gym) for around a S$1000 and what seemed I would get was some non branded silly skeletons. My initial bet was to get a decent one that’s becomes free after 2 years assuming first 2 years are our membership fees. But they didn’t impress me at all. Anything above S$3000 looked decent.

Then again I started analysing carefully on what are the important exercises am intended to do.

1) Ab crunches – for a flat stomach. 100 crunches a day for 2 months will get you 6 packs.
2) Bench press or similar ones – For a sculpture looking upper body
3) Dumbbells for biceps. – for that oomph factor when your arms folded. 😉

And I had a good set of dumbbells at home. Considering that, first 2 items required a workout bench and a squat pole. My search started and there were hell a lot of options for the workout benches and came in all size, brands, cost etc.

One of my other goals was to keep outflow of money in control which seemed to be extravagant last year. Still am one of the internet junk same as you, cant settle unless its the best of its class.

My reading continued. My eyes were eyeing Workout benches with Leg curl, arm curl and some option for free weights with the bench that supports, decline, incline, preacher curls.

Here is Singapore, I was able to get 100s of options in below pages.

I was able to get to some final conclusion which was an ‘out-of-stock’ product. Here it is.. http://jmall.sg/work-out-bench/705-deluxe-olympic-muti-purpose-smith-bench.html#

Most important thing – Almost all of the benches were falling under “max load of” to 200 which I thought more than enough considering I have got 130kgs of loads can be mounted. In reality it seems not enough. Many of them who lived with those workout benches confessed that those benches were shaky and noisy and of giving a feel of low quality. Every one recommended to look at more than that. And that out of stock product had a spec max load as 320. Bad I couldn’t get that.

My dig continued and found one in nutrition park website “Best Fitness Olympic Folding Bench BFOB10”.

Found this folding bench supported up to a massive 400kgs and very sturdy. Upon digging further I found its famous brand and in particular this product was a darling for likely minded. Only thing was price was nowhere closer to the Amazon’s selling price in US. Here its home delivered, assembled all at free of cost. Still on top of this, I need to get olympic bar with enough weights. Review suggests either 6 foot or bigger fits good for this workout bench. So its additional!

Another valuable addition should be Wall mounted chin up bar – to be installed by professionals!.. 🙂

Of course there are couple of compromises. Not as many things I would have wanted it to have. But gives and serves the purpose completely. If I achieve my goal, shamelessly I will add a picture right here at the end of 2014. 😉

Happy workout! All the best!.
