Taiwan National Museum
Following day, I decided to stay in the same place for that night and explore the Taipei city whole day. As per the little plan, my first stop was to National Palace Museum of Taiwan. I bought a 2 day card (ticket) from Jian Tan train station that also gives many discounts. Right outside the station, buses ply to many tourist attractions and mostly well defined. Just look at the pole and it will advise the bus number to be taken to the attraction.
Its just not that museum is interesting but the history of Taiwan itself. Taiwan is called Republic of China. Taiwan was used as the island to keep those rebels of China. Just not people, but the artifacts that were against beliefs of ancient China. Know who got lucky? It Taiwan. Now this museum houses more than 690,000 articles from the last 8000 years.
Museum open Sunday to Thursday from 8:30 to 18:30 and Friday to Sunday between 8:30 to 21:00. NT$160 is the fee for entrance. One can ask for free audio guide (electronic media in various languages).
Museum has 4 floors. 4th Floor is Tea house.
3rd Floor
This has the best of everything.
The Cabbage
Exhibit 302 shows “Nature and Human in unison Smart carvings of Jade and Beautiful Stones” or in Short Cabbage. Its a cabbage head with a grasshopper on it.
Port meat
This one scientifically called agate. I will never understand how one can mastermind this kind of art. One has to see to believe it. Its just a piece of cooked port meat – lets just say. Salute your art!
The Zong Zhou Zhong (Bell of Zhou)
Its longest scripts written on a bell and very famous. Cauldron Inscriptions – Chinese characters origin and development written here.
Ivory Ball
Uncanny Feat and Celestial Ingenuity : The carvings of the Ming and Qing Era. Ivory Ball – Concentric Ivory spheres carved in openwork with cloud and dragon motifs during Qing Dynasty
2nd Floor
This floor exhibits antiques. Mostly ceramics (Kneaded Clay) and extra ordinary calligraphy
1st Floor
This floor exhibits some of the rarest books and Arts. Also houses some of the religious sculptural arts.
