When the Bangalore ‘gang’ formed, we started to think of a Tour.. In less than a month we were ready with Plan A, Plan B, transport arrangements etc..etc..
That was the first time we went to Coorg and it was not only a memorable trip, but our love towards coorg never stopped growing. Even now if our plan has to pass through coorg, we cant avoid a stopover at nisargadama.
Plan was simple… Just coorg and Tadiyandamol.. But my god.. the excitement was incredible..
We started to Coorg on a fine day with a simple temple visit at the outskirts of bangalore..
With some pitstops(?!) we reached Nisargadama around 5 in the morning. 7am is the earliest time we could enter.
Nisargadama
Nisargadama is an artificial island created by splitting Cauvery river into two. This makes around 150 acres of bamboo forest. Govt of Karnataka has around 14 river facing cottages which are clean, simple and has great ambience.
Till 7am we played cricket on the road 😉 and then we checked-in the cottage. After morning chores, had breakfast. Then we went to madikeri (the capital of coorg). We visited Omkareshwara temple, abbey falls, Iruppu falls. Next day we went to Bagamandala, Tala cauvery (the place where Cauvery starts).. We still remember the mist and cloud.. It was so divine.. Its love.. 😉
We started to climb up.. even though its hardly 200-250 steps, it was so hard to make it to peak where holy people medidated. Lately we checked in at hotel chitra in madikeri.
Next day we started to tadiyandamol. This was the first time I faced what a leech looklike and feellike when bytes. That total stupidity that I chose to trek that first time itself without any proper plans. Few of us with sandals.. 🙁
Just within few meters of walk in the drizzling forest, I felt some itchy feeling at hip.. When I checked it was a inch length small Leech. First time. Leech at work. My first feel. Heart started pounding real fast. I was pulling that out. But it wasnt coming with my hand. again, again, and again it came off. I started running back. Blindly, so fast. Very fast. Meanwhile people realized leeches and started to turn their way back to the car. I ran and reached with that one leech to realize I had few more on the shoe. I climed on top of the sumo and opened my suitcase sitting there. Took my bodyspray and splashed all over the shoe and whereever I suspected that. When people came down, they had plenty with them and blood was oozing here and there in their legs.
I just helped them with spray thats it. 🙁
After that I always felt alergy with leeches.. Even in treaks I felt I was the one to taste the byte first.. 😛
But now with those treks in the past, I can literally handle Leech with my fingers and am comfortable with that.
After cleaning all those we headed back to Bangalore with few Tea breaks and a dinner break.
